Ergonomics

Help prevent musculoskeletal injuries

We are specialists in workplace ergonomics. Even though hard physical labour has been reduced to a minimum in modern industry, damage or injuries caused by years of hard work or by overloading are still not uncommon. Many people have sedentary work with repetitive activities, and if this is combined with a lack of physical activity when at leisure, it can lead to irreparable damage, and certainly to a lack of optimal well-being.

An ounce of prevention is still better than a pound of cure!

We take a holistic view!

Ergonomics is about suiting the physical demands of the workplace to the physical resources of the individual. This is why we strive to prevent musculoskeletal injuries, thus increasing the individual’s well-being and work-satisfaction.

Apart from the actual workplace, an ergonomic problem can be rooted in leisure activities, the psychological working environment, or the indoor climate. This is why our ergonomists always take a holistic view of the situation surrounding an individual.

Typically, our consulting service will focus on:

  • Equipment, furnishings and workplace organisation
  • Working techniques, working posture and movements
  • Physical training and the planning of physical work activities

Workplace evaluation

A link in workplace evaluation is to uncover possible ergonomic problems in any or all parts of the company, for instance offices, kitchens or production areas.

We follow up with suitable suggestions for solutions, matching the available resources.

Preventive efforts

We aid in company preventive efforts by providing goal-oriented plans for groups of personnel, followed by a review of workplaces in order to convert theory into practice.

Advising the individual

In cases where an individual has ergonomic problems, we find the causes together with the employee, and if relevant his or her own doctor, so that we can find a solution in cooperation with the company. If working capability is so impaired that it causes serious problems, we arrange for cooperation with social services in the employee’s home municipality.

Company ergonomics advisors

Companies can have their own employees trained as ergonomics advisors. We have developed a number of courses in which we train local “super users” to advise colleagues on ergonomics and positively influence attitudes, so that employees accept responsibility for their own working environment.

The advisor is also a management ambassador, and aids in fulfilling workplace requirements in accordance with legislation on the working environment.

Among others, we have developed courses for:

  • Industry, offices and kitchens
  • Institutions with frequent needs for relocations
  • Institutions for children
  • The cleaning industry

We also advise on

  • Repetitive work processes and repetitive heavy work
  • Heavy lifting, pushing and pulling, and evaluation of loads compared to limits and norms
  • Furnishing open-plan offices, cars/trucks and other vehicles
  • Working at computer screens
  • Pregnancy and the working environment
Equipment and furnishings

Many problems can be avoided by the choice of good equipment and ergonomically well-formed work tables, chairs, tools and machines. We have a large volume of knowledge in this area and can supply specific suggestions and definitions of requirements.
