Managing the working environment

Superior working-environment management

With a well-organised, well-documented effort to maintain and improve a good working environment, a company can achieve a stronger position with both employees and the community. Significant savings often result if accidents can be avoided through prevention, while efforts to safeguard the working environment can also benefit company goals and improved productivity.

We help companies and organisations draft effective management systems for the working environment and assist with compulsory workplace assessments.

Compulsory documentation

Our focus is on helping companies organise their efforts for a better working environment so that all compulsory tasks are carried out with the best possible results for the company, both economically and with regard to quality.

Such tasks can be:

  • Preparation for screening or inspection by Working Environment Services
  • Compulsory workplace assessment (Danish “APV”), including absence due to illness, dangerous chemicals and risk of explosion.
  • Organising working environment efforts
  • Compulsory working-environment training (Link: Working-environment training).
  • Accident prevention
  • Working-environment certification

Planning production and the working environment
It can be difficult to ensure that working environment considerations are met under the pressures of daily operations. We can aid in the process with consulting and supervision, involving principal decision-makers in the effort so that it is firmly anchored in daily operations.

If a company is rebuilding or re-organising, we can help design and plan workplaces so that, right from the planning phase, the company can ensure that the benefits of rationalisation are not lost through overwork, illness or accidents.

Our unique tool, called “Integrated Workplace Assessment” allows us to offer an expanded method of evaluation that not only includes the working environment but also focuses directly on productivity and quality.

Training for the working environment

Naturally, we are authorised to carry out compulsory working- environment training for supervisors and safety officers (link: Working- environment training).

We can also offer generalized working-environment courses for leaders and employees not directly involved in the safety organisation, as well as courses tailored to the specific company needs.

Leadership tools

We have trained working environment auditors, and can help implement a number of leadership tools:

  • DS/OHSAS 18001
  • Executive Order no. 923 (Working Environment Services)
  • Working environment policies
  • Working environment accounts
Workplace accidents are expensive!
A poor working environment can have serious consequences for a company. For example, the Working Environment Services, together with PriceWaterhouseCoopers have analysed 27 workplace accidents in 9 different companies. The analysis showed that a minor accident in one of the nine companies cost an average of € 1,100, while more serious accidents cost an average of € 11,000 each. Total costs of accidents in the nine companies were from € 10,000 – € 750,000 in the year in question. One illustration is that it cost an employer over € 9,500 when a worker on a building site fell from a ladder, breaking a wrist.
