Offshore environmental approval

It is something of a feat to obtain environmental approval within the limits of clients’ and company timetables when building new construction or applying for permits for discharges into coastal waters.

Using our network of partner’s abroad, we can help clients obtain environmental approval within short time horizons, because our services are based on knowledge of authorities requirements in the context of environmental legislation.

In addition, we can offer extensive cross-disciplinary cooperation, including specialised expertise in impact assessments e.g. on sea birds, marine mammals, benthic fauna, submarine plants, plankton, and sediment conditions.

Dialogue with authorities

We emphasise thorough screening processes that provide the basis for decision-making and minimise the need for supplementary information. Furthermore, the process is carried out in a transparent way in relation to authorities, interest groups and citizens. We enter into a dialogue with authorities on requirements for our surveys, thus ensuring our clients the most flexible procedures and ensure the fastest process. Local partners are always involved to ensure national requirements are met.

EIA procedures

Construction projects at sea and in coastal waters [link: Marine construction] are covered by special sets of rules that differ from the rules for construction on land. Marine constructions and activities with significant impacts must be treated according to environmental legislation including EIA. We and our partners assist with all types of tasks related to the procedures.

Natura 2000 and Protection of Nature and Cultural Heritage Act

We have extensive experience in preparing impact assessments in accordance with Natura 2000 regulations. In addition, we assist obtain dispensations in accordance with the laws on Protection of Nature and Cultural Heritage for construction and enterprises that may impact on certain types of protected nature or areas of cultural importance.

Discharge and waste

Enterprises with temporary or permanent discharges of wastewater [link: Enterprises with discharges], must have permits in accordance with the law on protection of the environment. We assist in applying for permits including assessment of eco-toxicological aspects. Furthermore, we assist with environmental approval of waste handling.
