There is a great deal of history behind the 140-yr old name of Hedeselskabet. But many people do not realise that DDH Consulting is a modern engineering consulting company. The new name of Orbicon will put an end to that.
The new name will give us a clearer profile as consultants; many people still think that we reclaim marginal land on the Danish Jutland moors, plant Christmas trees or sell chain saws. But we are a modern consultative enterprise, constantly developing new methods and new fields of business, says Managing director Jesper Nybo Andersen of DDH Consulting, now Orbicon.
Orbicon provides engineering consultancy services, mainly in the field of the environment. We work with natural resources, sewerage and water supplies, soil pollution, the aquatic environment and the road sector, and are currently expanding into consultative service in the working environment, organisational development and socio-economic analysis and evaluation.
Many of our fields of endeavour are so different from what Hedeselskabet historically has been involved in that the old name no longer has the same attraction for new customers and employees.
Why Orbicon?
Orbicon is a composite of the words orbit and consult. Orbit, to signal a holistic approach, and consult, because we are a consulting company.
We include all relevant aspects when finding the best possible solution to a problem – whether in the fields of economics, technology, the environment, civic involvement, the working environment and much more – we are the consultants who can take a general view while looking after the details. That is what we mean by a holistic approach, says Jesper Nybo Andersen.
Our roots are intact
Although we are shaking the dust off our leaves, our historical roots are intact. We stand by our 140 years of service to Danish society. When Hedeselskabet was formed, it was important to acquire more agricultural land in order to ensure food supplies. Today, the world has changed and so have we. Now we work to re-establish natural resources and limit impacts on the environment caused by the emission of chemicals to air, water and soil. We constantly strive to expand the company’s fields of endeavour and develop new knowledge and new methods – in the true company tradition.
