- the essential tool in water resources management

HYMER is the efficient tool in hydrological data handling

Management of water resources starts with reliable hydrological data and efficient data handling. HYMER is the software program developed exactly for this purpose. The program condenses almost 100 years of experience in gathering and processing hydrometric data with advanced state of the art software applications.

HYMER is a hydrometric software program designed to administer hydrological and climate data, calculate, process and manage time series and document and present the results into graphs and tables. The system is tailored to handle the full hydrometric dataflow - from raw field based data of water level, current measurements, cross section surveys, etc. to import and manipulation of data in the program, statistical assessments, to export and linking up the results to GIS or web based interfaces. The system can be executed as single or multi-user set up.

HYMER has been developed over decades by Orbicon (Denmark) based on almost 100 years of hands-on experience obtained through the task as operator of the national center for hydrometric data in Denmark. HYMER is just the essential tool in all assessments within water resources management.

Easy access

All operations of HYMER are handled through one single software program executed on either standalone laptops or networks. All the user needs is a MS Windows platform.

HYMER holds interface facilities to map presentation on GIS-systems and web based solutions, which makes it easy to share information.
All raw data can be easily imported, and export of tabular values and graphical presentations can be copied and pasted directly into spread sheets, notepads and word documents.

HYMER is currently supporting Microsoft Access databases and Microsoft SQL-Server databases.

Time series

In the HYMER application, time series are de.ned as continuously streams of data having the length de.ned by the first and last record. The HYMER time series concept is based on a hierarchic network of linked time series. This hierarchy link corresponding values derived from various operations
e.g. corrections, water level to flow transformations, and statistical operations etc.

The typical data operation and computation requires raw data and related rating curves and correction values. The derived parameters used for computation are stored in the database and retrieved when the system needs them. Consequently, raw data and the original time series are never altered or replaced by modifications. In this way the historical time series are kept intact. This mode of operation makes it possible to modify and undo modifications and further data processing is always automatically documented.

Rating curves

HYMER facilitates standard rating curves. The user can select between fixed rating curves or dynamical rating curves in order to allow variations in hydraulic properties of the river. The rating curves can be manually or automatically derived using the best .t method. The display can be in either linear or logarithmic view.

The documentation and dynamically calculation principles allow the user to keep track on all previously used rating curves.
Discharge calculation Based on the rating curve expression, the water level and the dynamically calculation principles, HYMER will calculate time series of discharge.
